School Support Services

School support service aims at supporting school staff and shadow teacher to best support every student, including the student with special needs, in the school/ classroom setting. Many teachers and teaching assistants are keen on supporting all the students in their class. Yet, they may not have the most effective tools to do so. This service addresses behavioural, educational, and environmental issues pertaining to the student’s successful participation in school. Working closely with the administrators, teachers, and other school staff who are actively involved in the student’s education, we will develop an individualized education plan (IEP) that can best support the needs of the student.

Shadow Teacher Training

Shadow teacher’s role is to support the student to become more independent. It is too often that we observe the additional support some students are getting merely serves as extra resources to handle the student’s challenging behaviours in class. While this may help the classroom teacher in a short term, it does not help the student to learn needed skills to become an independent learner. 

Our shadow teacher training aims to support shadow teachers to use effective evidence-based strategies to work towards goals that will support the student’s independence.

School Consultation

School Observation Services (2.5 hours) – Conduct a school observation to provide insight and make recommendations to better support the student in the school setting. This package includes:

  • 1.5 hour school observation 
  • School observation report 
  • 0.5 hour parent meeting (post observation)

Shadow Teacher Support – We provide school consultation services for families who hire their own shadow teacher. The purpose of the consultation is to (i) set targeted goals and objectives to enhance the student’s performance, (ii) monitor the progress of the student and make timely adjustments, and (iii) support the shadow teacher with challenging situations. 

  • Package (by school term): One school observation and report, One school meeting, One parent meeting, monthly 1-hour supervision meeting with the shadow teacher
  • On demand (charge by the hour)
